Medical Missions

The call to give back to the society has been a long-distance one for the brods of Canada. It is thru the sponsorship of several medical and dental missions in the Philippines that this call has been responded to by the Canuck Brods.

The Chapter has worked in collaboration with other alumni chapters in North America and in support of the Federation of Beta Sigma Fraternity Chapters in North America in raising funds for these charity works.

The Canada Chapter was actively involved in medical missions held in Cebu, in the Ilocos Region (Vigan, Laoag and Santo Domingo), Nueva Ecija and in Mindanao (Davao, Pagadian City), to name a few.

In these weekend missions, the volunteers saw an average of 1200 patients and medication and supplies were dispensed free of charge. These medical supplies were paid for from the funds raised by the sponsoring chapters. The Beta Sigma Fraternity Alumni Canada Chapter continues to be creative in raising funds through different events and activities, one of which is holding a biennial Grand Fraternity Reunion celebration from which events, proceeds are allocated for said charity endeavor.

These medical missions have grown to include ophthalmology, circumcision and nutrition services geared towards the less fortunate of our ‘Kababayans’ in impoverished areas where basic medical services are much wanting.
